The Undiscovered Side Business of Your Roof: Using Sunlight to Cover the Costs

Let’s be honest.  For years, your house has been freeloading.  absorbing the sun’s rays while sitting there and doing nothing with them.  In the meantime, you’re paying for power on a monthly basis as if it were a subscription that you couldn’t stop.  That’s Home solar panels now.

These days, home solar panels aren’t some futuristic technology.  They are a common problem for those who wish to make their roofs less…lazy since they are tired of paying excessive energy bills.  With a few panels installed on top, your house transforms into a miniature power plant.  It’s effective but not spectacular.  Like that silent coworker who never speaks but manages to get everything done by noon.
You may believe that solar energy is only practical if you live in a desert.  Not at all.  You probably have enough daylight to make it work unless you live in a cave or your house is always in the shade.  Even overcast days contribute.  Solar panels will settle for anything they can get because they are not prima donnas.
But the sticker shock is genuine.  The initial outlay is not negligible.  However, the calculations are correct.  Your panels begin to pay for themselves after your initial investment.  The sun is saying “thank you” with each shrinking banknote.  And the icing on the cake?  Tax benefits, incentives, and perhaps even a neighbor who acknowledges your superior intelligence.
After the installers arrive and do their task, your electric meter suddenly begins to perform a magical trick.  In fact, it can run backwards.  Yes, exactly.  You owe the power company money.  What about a story twist like that?
Upkeep?  Nearly none.  In the event that birds have been…expressive, consider occasionally washing the panels.  Otherwise, they simply perform their duties while sitting quietly.  similar to solar ninjas.
You may even forget what full electric bills looked like a few years later.  You will simply shake your head at your previous self and question why you didn’t take action sooner.  Even the best of us experience it.
Not to mention the bragging rights.  “Are those solar panels?,” someone will inquire.  Then you’ll be able to say “Yep” in a casual way.  No lectures.  Don’t use spreadsheets.  Just a nod of assurance.
Ultimately, squandered potential results from your roof simply sitting there doing nothing.  For its square footage, it might as well be functional.  Sunlight is, after all, free.  Not using it would be impolite.
